GASP’s spring event, Drive Cleaner, Drive Greener, was a big success, thanks to everyone who volunteered or attended the event! GASP introduced the public to hybrid electric vehicles through test drives, a dozen cars on display, and several fact sheets and information about the environmental and financial advantages of purchasing a new hybrid car. Despite the rain, the event attracted an estimated 150-200 people, 60 of whom took advantage of free test drives.
Both the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and KDKA TV covered the event, resulting in great publicity for GASP’s efforts to educate the public about environmentally friendly transportation: Hybrid vehicles hoping to stir desires of motorists: Seeing another kind of green” (Post-Gazette, May 16, 2004).
GASP would like to specifically thank the following event partners for their role in our event:
- Construction Junction
- Pennsylvania Resources Council
- Bike Pittsburgh
- East End Food Co-op
- Rohrich Toyota
- McKean Honda
- Brad Yoder
Thanks to our raffle donors:
And a special note of gratitude to the dozen hybrid car owners who brought their cars to display, along with their willingness to help GASP educate the public about hybrid cars.
We plan on having similar hybrid car events in the future. If you are interested in planning or participating in such an event, please let GASP know! Call (412) 441-6650 or email gasp@gasp-pgh.org.
