World-Renowned Puppeteer Performing Free Homecoming Show in Clairton Aug. 14, Media & Photo Opportunities Available

CLAIRTON – World-renowned puppeteer Tarish “Jeghetto” Pipkins will perform a free homecoming show in Clairton at 3 p.m. on Aug. 14. Media interview and photo opportunities will be available.

The Group Against Smog and Pollution (GASP) is pleased to sponsor the event, which will feature the Clairton native and Jim Henson Foundation award winner as he masterfully manipulates his handmade creations crafted from recycled materials.

“I’m honored and excited to come home and share my hard work, talent, and success with the family and community that raised me to be who I am today,” he said. “I have very fond memories of Clairton Park growing up as a child. It means so much to me to come back and perform there.”

GASP is honored to sponsor the event.

“It’s a really unique form of storytelling through a hybrid of puppetry and hip hop for children of all ages,” GASP Executive Director Rachel Filippini said. “We’re so excited for the event and for the community to get to see his amazing work.”

Attendees will also be invited to visit GASP’s clean air education table for kids, which features fun and engaging activities as well as a guest appearance from our friend and local puppeteer Dave English along with his sidekick Dirty Gertie the Poor Polluted Birdie.

Funding for air quality educational programming was provided by an Allegheny County Clean Air Fund grant.
