Join Us for Some Puppet Fun in the Park During Upcoming Fireman Creative .5K (Yep, You Read that Right!)

Join GASP for some fall fun in the park Oct. 9, when we’ll be at Westinghouse Park to host a Clean Air Fair during an event called What’s the .5K? (yes, you read that correctly) sponsored by Fireman Creative, a ‘Burgh-based design and technology firm.

The race is about 546 yards long and is open to all ages. There will be infant and toddler divisions, along with those for children, adults, and seniors. The event celebrates the 175th birthday of George Westinghouse in the community space named after him, Westinghouse Park.

While GASP’s Clean Air Fair and other entertainment in the park during the event is free to attend and open to the public, there is a $20 fee to register for the race. Those who register for the race will receive a T-shirt, sticker, and other swag. The best part? Funds raised go toward the beautification of Westinghouse Park.

So mark your calendars now: The fun officially starts with a “Trash Dash” to clean up the park before the race at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9. The .5K kicks off at noon.

Our Clean Air Fair will feature friend Dave English, a local artist, educator, and puppeteer who will be flanked by the one-and-only Dirty Gertie the Poor Polluted Birdie and some of her new friends.

“We’ll also have a bunch of fun, interactive activities to help kids better understand how air quality affects our health and environment, including a giant nose and real pig lungs,” GASP educator Laura Kuster said.

Hope to see you there!
