Updated: Dec 20, 2022

The Group Against Smog and Pollution will join local residents and fellow environmental groups at noon Thursday at the U.S. Steel building downtown to send a message to the company that #EnoughIsEnough.

U.S. Steel must stop unlawful levels of air pollution at the Clairton Coke Works. U.S. Steel must also commit to reinvesting in the Clairton Coke Works and repair its reputation as a chronic polluter.

GASP Executive Director Rachel Filippini is slated to speak at the press event, which will be held at the corner of 6th Avenue and Grant Street, and which will address the lack of response from U.S. Steel and public health concerns of many in the region following a second fire at the company that knocked desulfurization units offline Monday.
